Creative Inner Journey Sessions

The creative process helps you get in tune with what’s going on internally. It’s an uncanny truth that what you see in your struggle on the canvas is inevitably true in your daily life as well.

The art or adventure then becomes, metaphorically, a playground to be curious and brave!

It will offer both of us a deeper connection to your heart/soul, often revealing what is hidden beneath what is not easily heard over the chatter in your head.

For me, this is the big difference between myself and traditional talk therapy: I have found the quickest way to clarity and change is when we’re engaged in an experience rather than talking about what is on the conscious level.

In my experience, talk therapy takes us on a rat wheel, or an understanding that is only “head deep”. It is only when we put skills to practice, even in small increments, that we can understand on a deeper level and embody the change we want to see.

I can offer you a one time only Creative Inner Journey Session in which we can decide if this is a good fit for you. At the same time, it will also provide clarity around a situation, awareness of what may be blocking your shift in progression, and inspiration for moving forward.

We can meet virtually through Zoom, or if you’re located in St. Louis, you can come to my studio or I can come to you. If we meet in person, I’ll have all the creative materials you’ll need. For online sessions, we can talk ahead of time and I can work with what you have at home.

We’ll chat shortly, calm the space – and oftentimes YOU – and I’ll facilitate you through a variety of art and movement experiences to help you gain understanding and begin to see possibilities for altering a situation or living your life more expansively. I assure you, absolutely NO ART EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

As an intuitive, I always tune into deeper guidance and your energy to help me provide the highest guidance to help you in self-awareness and encouraging your braveness forward.

An Inner Journey Session offers you a personalized, in-depth coaching type experience where we have time to communicate at each stage of the process, helping you to be see yourself with more clarity and utilize strategies that you can use in your everyday life.

After that, you may invest in an 8 session package that can be used over a 3-6 month period of time. I have found that your commitment to yourself in a relatively short amount of time creates the most dramatic personal transformation.

My typical clientele are midlife women wondering where their years went, feeling boxed in and stagnant, who are ready to kick it up a notch. Imagine a best friend that dared you to some crazy escapades in your youth, running hand in hand, giggling and scared to death into the adventure. I promise, I won’t lead you into breaking the law, but I’ll hold you to your highest vision as you take the leap into your highest creative, adventurous life.

AND I’ve also worked with all ages, from youth through seniors, both male and female. So if you’re resonating with what you’re reading, this is for you no matter your age or gender.

Sessions typically run 1.5-2 hours

$150/session

You need NO art or physical skills!

Really.

I came to Laurie at a time in my life when I felt like I was holding onto overwhelming loss like a backpack of bricks. Dealing with a chronic debilitating illness left me in constant pain and feeling at times that I was losing my mind! My mind was in constant fight or flight mode, always readying myself for the next bout of bad news. At one point I was living my life and then just fighting for it. Just walking into Laurie’s studio gave me such a sense of peace. I began writing that first day nonstop for at least 10 minutes without stopping or considering discomfort in my hands. It was like coming home again to my heaven. We’ve used color to express emotions, and tools such as toothbrushes, tissue, anything and everything, the sky was the limit. I even threw paint! I’ve filled the journal Laurie gave me, both together and on my own. Some pages are ripped and have cut-outs not because it looks good, but because it feels good! I walked in with worry and fear; I walked out with a calmness about me and so inspired to do more that makes me FEEL good. I have felt hopeful that not all was lost. I dropped my ‘perfection’ and went into my imagination. Through this learning and getting back in touch with art, it then opened up so much more light in my life.

There are people who occasionally show up in life at the perfect moment – when you are casting around for something to help anchor you, or lift you out of the doldrums. I am one of those incredibly fortunate people who loved my work for years and would have been simply delighted to teach art well into my seventies (I’m quite certain)! But that was not to be and at the age of sixty I found myself having to face early retirement from a disability that commanded center stage. Ten years later, I find myself finally surrendering to what I could never control in the first place. Laurie might be surprised to hear me state that she, in her own thoughtful, intuitive way, unequivocally helped set the stage for that to happen. Through the joy of play and the insight of a sage, Laurie created experiences that encouraged me to open up to wherever the process of play took me. With her guidance I became, in my own mind, a vehicle through which some force far wiser than me could flow freely. The reflective components that came after the fact of creation awakened in me a newfound love for writing poetry that was itself gift enough - but she also convinced me of the need to surrender. I have no answers, only questions about what has truly happened over the last several months. And I don’t mean to imply that Laurie works miracles. But I will say she was unquestionably instrumental in helping me turn a corner that had evaded me for years. The experience of simply working with her creative spirit is, and has been, a welcome shift from too many predictably structured days. So Laurie, please consider this not only a recommendation but also a profound thank you for being willing to orchestrate such thoughtfully crafted experiences for me, and no doubt for all of your students. I look forward to each session with you, knowing that the whole process will playful and thought provoking - and joyful!

Working with Laurie in multiple sessions was such a great experience. Her sessions support and encourage you to really get out of your comfort zone and pull down any barriers you may have regarding your creativity. When I allowed myself to fully participate I felt myself opening up creatively and moving me into a new level of self-awareness. Plus it was a lot of fun! I left each session feeling inspired and connected! Thank you Laurie for being such a great teacher!"

I have a BS in Interior design, a Master of Arts in K-12 Education and a Master of Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis on painting. With all that education, you’d think I’d be popping out paintings like crazy. And guess what, I hadn’t. I can copy anything….but I went to school for fine art: when you paint, you must know what what you are saying in universal principles and the why and how you’ll get your message across…pretty heavy.

The inspiration from Laurie’s sessions has allowed me the freedom to create without intention or outcome. And by releasing fear, judgement, planning and expectation…I am free. I have more energy and interest in creation. My work is more light and free. More importantly, I can just get started, unblocked without reservation. To create without the fear of the outcome. I highly recommend Laurie as an individual guide and a class teacher. You will grow and learn in ways that are unique to you and your journey.
